Some new estimators of the binomial parameter n

George Iliopoulos

On the basis of an observation from the binomial distribution ${\mathcal B}(n,p)$ with known probability of success $p$, we construct two classes of admissible estimators of the parameter $n\in\{1,2,\ldots\}$ when the loss function is the squared error. The estimators are either proper Bayes or limits of Bayes estimators.

Key words and phrases: binomial parameter $n$; Bayes estimators; admissibility; Blyth's method; squared error loss.
